Our "Nursing Philosophy"

As Neurosciences Nurses we recognise that each individual is a unique social being with dignity and worth and has the right to quality health care services, delivered without prejudice.

  • We respect the individual’s right to confidentiality
  • We endeavour to give each patient and carer as much information as possible to enable them to make informed choices about their care
  • We hold responsibility for the nursing care for all patients through illness and recovery, recognising their ability to achieve self care by their own efforts or with the assistance of others

The nursing staff of this unit are part of a Multidisciplinary team.  We aim to work together for and with the patients and carers, to provide family centred care, involving them in all aspects of treatment, to and following discharge

The Neurosciences Unit is committed to developing Nursing practice by the education and development of its nursing staff using a research based approach to practice.
