Our Neurovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist:

Running alongside the traumatic brain injury service is the neurovascular support service. This is spearheaded by clinical specialist nurse Diane Danson.

Diane meets all neurovascular patients and relatives, both acute and elective who are admitted the Leeds Neurosciences Centre. The purpose of her role is to give support and advice to those who have suffered a cerebral aneurysmal bleed, or may have a cerebral aneurysm which requires treatment.

Diane is involved at each step of the admission from critical care to discharge and provides a catch up phone service once patients have returned home. She is our local point of contact for patients and relatives and works very closely with the, surgeons, interventional radiologists, ward staff, occupational therapists, speech and language, dieticians and physiotherapists. She also runs a 6 week follow up outpatients clinic where a full assessment of recovery undertaken and patient needs and questions are discussed.
